Lake City Health
Care Center
Devcon Construction designed and constructed a 120-bed addition
to Lake City Health Care Center in Lake City, GA. Construction prices
and schedules were met from start to finish under a significant
time constraint. Total project cost was $1,500,000.

Spivey Hall/
Clayton State College
Spivey Hall at Clayton State College in Morrow, GA received
a one million dollar pipe organ built in Italy, named the Albert
Schweitzer Memorial Organ. Devcon Construction made precise structural
modifications to the building and constructed multi-level platforms
to house the 50,000-pound organ. The work involved the installation
of concrete grade beams, a structural steel frame, wooden joists,
mechanical ventilation and various interior finishes. Replacement
work on ventilation grills throughout the halls enhanced the acoustics
of the concert hall. The entire job was accomplished in a timely
completion around a tight Christmas concert schedule. Total project
cost was $96,038.

The Lovett
School
Devcon Construction was responsible for the interior additions
of middle school offices at The Lovett School in Atlanta. Alterations
included extensive concrete demolition and the removal of existing
steel windows and brick walls. New construction included all interior
modifications, storefront, HVAC and electrical. Total project cost
was $51,746.

East River Elementary
School
Devcon Construction was responsible for the addition of classrooms,
a media center and a gymnasium at East River Elementary School in
Atlanta. The overall project was 17,000 square feet and two levels.
The scope of the work included extensive demolition and site improvements,
a combination of structural steel/ cast-in-place concrete, a block
with brick veneer and a curved architectural metal roof. Total project
cost was $2,145,026.

Phi Mu Fraternity/
Georgia Tech
Devcon Construction completely converted an abandoned three-story
house into Phi Mu’s present fraternity house at Georgia Tech
in Atlanta. The schedule of work included gutting the existing space,
relocating the walls and installing new plumbing, electrical, HVAC
and a fire sprinkler system. Total project cost was $159,685.

GE Building Loft
Apartments
Devcon was the general contractor for the rehabilitation
of an existing three-story concrete industrial building and created
48 units of luxury loft apartments, named GE Building Loft Apartments.
The total project included the renovation of 55,320 square feet
of space and involved extensive demolition and the total replacement
of all utilities including upgrading the sprinkler system. Total
project cost was $1,950,616.

Banneker
High School Auditorium and Career Technology Center
Devcon was the general contractor for the construction of
a 31,000 square feet two-level addition to Banneker High School.
The scope of the work included a two-level career technology wing
and auditorium. Extensive site and building retaining walls; structural
steel frame, block and brick veneer were also added. Devcon also
constructed a new baseball field for the school necessitating the
removal of 30,000 cubic yards of mass rock. Total project cost was
$5,055,534.

West Dekalb
Mental Health Center
Devcon Construction was responsible for the construction
of a new 21,500 square feet two-level ambulatory heath care center
in Atlanta. The project consisted of extensive grading and site
work on the 7.2 acre site including the construction of four parking
lots for 200 vehicles; an access road with major creek crossing;
and an elevated pedestrian bridge on pre-cast concrete tees connecting
the new building to the adjacent existing complex. Total project
cost was $2,143,000.

Crosstown
Carrier Annex/ U.S. Postal Facility
Devcon Construction was the general contractor for a 22,210
square feet single-story U.S. Postal Facility in Roswell, GA. Building
construction consisted of a structural steel frame; concrete block
and metal stud framing with brick veneer; and modified bitumen membrane
roofing. Extensive grading and site work was done on the 12.55-acre
site to provide 189 parking spaces and room for postal circulation
and parking. Total project cost was $2,231,583.

Bessie Branham
Park Recreation Center Expansion
Devcon was the general contractor for the construction of
17,000 square feet gymnasium and community center. The project included
two tennis courts and a gym designed with built-in seating for 250
spectators. Construction included load-bearing masonry, bar joists,
brick exterior, glazed block interior and standing seam metal roofing.
The project also involved extensive landscaping and the construction
of new parking lot. Total project cost was $2,496,944.

Daves Creek
Elementary School Additions and Alterations
Devcon was the general contractor for the construction of
a 27,486 square feet addition to Daves Creek Elementary School.
The project included four separate additions to the school, which
consisted of 21 classrooms and a complete renovation of 74,278 square
feet to existing school space. New construction consisted of a structural
steel frame, bar joists, insulated metal roof deck, concrete block
walls, brick veneer exterior walls and a standing steam metal roof.
Renovation work consisted of adding an HVAC duct system to classrooms,
new ceilings, flooring, a fire protection sprinkler system, and
integration with old and new fire alarm and communication system.
The project was phased such that the renovation of existing systems
was accomplished during summer months and the total work was accomplished
in an 11-month period. Total project cost was $3,423,687.

Shiloh Middle
School Additions and Alterations
Devcon was the general contractor for construction of a 47,000
square feet 24-classroom addition to Shiloh Middle School including
a new gymnasium, band room and educational technology. The project
also involved major rerouting of the sanitary sewer, fire and domestic
water lines, storm sewer modifications and new curbing/asphalt for
the 2.7-acre parking lot. New construction consisted of structural
steel frame bar joists/trusses, concrete block with brick and EIFS
veneer, and built-up and standing seam metal roofing. The scope
of the work also included major renovation of finishes for approximately
45,000 square feet of existing school area. Total project cost was
$3,879,791.
